👩🎓💪 Pole dancing at University- what are your thoughts?Bournemouth University is one of the universities that have launched Pole dancing for fitness classes on campus in assosiation POLZ APART LIMITED.Maybe not your traditional class- but personally I think it's a great idea to offer something different. There are so many students that wouldn't think of themselves as sporty, but may be happy to try this as it is a bit more fun and certainly less competitive.Getting unengaged or inactive students to participate in fitness or sports is one of the biggest challenges leisure facilities face within HE sectors, so if this new style of exercise works towards getting more people involved then brilliant I say!If you work at a University would this activity be something you can see appearing on your timetable any time soon?#Students would you get involved with pole fitness at Uni? BALLET BEGINNERS- ADULTS AND CHILDREN. DOES AGE MAKE A DIFFERENCE?Very different approach teaching a 5 or 13 or 30 year old beginner but basics have to be taught in any subject and at any age.I work on the premise that all beginners are every bit as clever as I am. The only difference being, I have had a longer time to acquire specific information and apply that knowledge.After consideringwhatI have to sayyou can decide for yourself.Body requirements.You will be physically using your body to create yourMoving Work of Art. Priority will be to understandhow a body, yours in particular, is constructed and works. All human bodies are similar but not the same like jigsaw puzzles. Mental RequirementsYour aim is to acquire strength and flexibility,the same as for physical requirements.Developing a good memory ,spacial awareness and musical appreciation are essential. Learning to use your eyes and ears constantly and accurately. Minds develop in different ways dependent on nutrition, culture and climate,family influences plus many other factors. Desire to dance.Besides the many and varied reasons children and adults attend ballet classes there must be a desire to exert yourself physically and mentally and in time to the music.To repeat and repeat and repeat.It is not aimed at keeping you fit and losing weight but is superb exercise .It is not a social gathering but dancers do bond with each other. Time availabilityMaking sure you have enough time to commit to attending class regularly to achieve a positive outcome.My OpinionThere is very little difference between teaching an Adult Beginner and a Child Beginner.It is a matter of scale and adapting content to ability in age appropriate manner.Physically and mentally one has to work carefully and slowly with dancers, steering and guiding them to take control of their own aeroplane as they take flight into dance.
