What happens when students understand the value of public speaking and networking? - They start a completely student-led university-wide public speaking contest for even more opportunities to practice and improve their public speaking skills and meet students from other programs and faculties! I am honored to have been invited to judge this year’s The Calliope Prize and share in the enthusiasm, energy, and dedication displayed by the students in De Haagse Hogeschool / The Hague University of Applied Sciences Speakers’ Corner this past Wednesday. Congratulations to all the organizers, finalists, and winners!

Just back from an inspiring week mentoring students for the #HEDCOM Businet network project at Avans University of Applied Science. Four IB THUAS - International Business participated in the project and worked in international and multidisciplinary teams with peers from Slovenia, Lithuania, Belgium, the UK, Romania, France, Portugal, and the Netherlands to tackle the challenge set by client Alina Totti: attracting young highly-skilled professionals from around the world to North Brabant. The creativity and dedication to the project all student groups showed in their communication strategies were truly remarkable, leaving the client impressed with the potential impact of their ideas on policy. I also learned a lot about the rebranding process of the Netherlands, the innovative region of North Brabant, and shared countless memorable moments while working on the project.Huge thank you, Cora de Jonge for flawlessly organizing everything and for the warm hospitality you welcomed us with to Breda and Avans! Already looking forward to next year’s project. Students, keep an eye out for a call for applications around December 2024 if you would like to participate in a fast-paced real world challenge!

🌟I'm thrilled to share that today we successfully wrapped up an incredible International Week, bringing together over 700 students from the #BFM Faculty at De Haagse Hogeschool / The Hague University of Applied Sciences 🌟 The theme of the week was 'Broader Prosperity' and the SDGs, and it was a great honor to have the Dutch National Coordinator for the SDGs, Sandra Pellegrom, open the event with an insightful keynote address inspiring students to imagine innovation in business in line with our planetary and social boundaries. Our BFM Faculty Dean Deborah Mevissen also reminded students in her address of the necessity of international and intercultural collaboration and global citizenship in today's interconnected world. Each day we offered students a personalized program with a choice of 16 engaging workshops, 3 thought-provoking keynotes, and many social activities. A huge thank you to Kunal Doerbali, Bel Kerkhoff-Parnell, Ph.D., Magdalena Szumna, Jasper Wegman and all our other external guests for engaging our students with your expertise, passion and dedication. To my enthusiastic colleagues Mercedes Conde, María Ángeles Aragón Morán and Alberto Gonzalez Otero - thank you for ensuring a diversity of perspectives by making these connections. I am also overwhelmed with gratitude for my dear IB THUAS - International Business colleagues Sudhan Balakrishnan 🏳️🌈, Jennifer Steers, Lilian Völker, Chi Nguyen, Alberto Gonzalez Otero, Juul Wolters and Hongli Joosten-Ma who took time from their busy schedules to enrich our event with various activities that the students thoroughly enjoyed! Last but not least, thank you to all the colleagues who contributed to the week in the capacity of a coach - your mentorship and guidance empowered our students to embrace learning and growth, and your involvement added vibrancy to every session. As a member of the organizing team with Ranu Paltantewari, Andrew Koppert, Casper Verschoor, Deni Bogheanu, and many others who helped along the way, it brings me great joy to witness the culmination of our efforts resulting in such a rewarding experience for everyone involved. It's moments like these that reaffirm the power of collaboration and education in shaping tomorrow's business professionals. 🚀 #InternationalWeek #BFMTHUAS #SDGs #BroaderProsperity #Gratitude

Today I gave a guest lecture on Critical Thinking and DEI in student intercultural collaboration at Hogeschool PXL in Hasselt, Belgium as part of their International Week. As you can see in my photo, I ended the lecture with a huge smile on my face owing it to the students’ active participation, curiosity, open-mindedness and engagement with the ideas I presented. Thank you for the invitation and successful organization Jeroen Schreurs, Christel Maenen, Katleen Vos and everyone else involved in making this week happen. I enjoyed visiting your campus and meeting your lovely students!

Last week I represented IB THUAS - International Business at the 36th Businet Annual Conference in Warsaw organized by the Businet network, alongside colleagues Jantien Belt and Pieter de Vos from CE, BFM; and Hyun-Ju Park and Hesther Calis from LAW THUAS - International and European Law from De Haagse Hogeschool / The Hague University of Applied Sciences. The conference delved into crucial higher education topics such as #sustainability and the transformative impact of #AI. Further, I really enjoyed the keynotes on #personalbranding and #assessment. In addition to insightful keynote speeches, the event offered valuable opportunities for good practice workshops and meetings organized by curriculum-specific working groups. I took part in the Communications Working Group, which reflected on the student project in Lisbon with L'Oreal I attended in March 2023, and discussed this year's student project set to take place in Breda. I am looking forward to presenting the opportunity of participating in this project to our students soon, thank you for organizing it Cora de Jonge! The keynotes on sustainability and the transformative role of AI in higher education emphasized important issues on #morality, #humanrights, #manipulation, #humandignity, among other things. It gives me hope that we, as educators, can have a valuable contribution towards making the world more sustainable and just by promoting integrity, humility, and curiosity towards learning and knowledge through helping students enhance their #criticalthinking skills, and provide opportunities for them to work in #interdisciplinary and #intercultural teams.Lastly, attending this conference was an incredible chance to #network and meet inspiring colleagues from around Europe and the world. A huge thanks to the organizers for filling up every minute with meaningful content and activities, and the lovely colleagues I shared a chat with over the course of the week. I am happy to join this network and I am already looking forward to meeting you all again! #tired but very much #inspired!
